At Vet in the City, we perform a broad range of soft tissue surgical procedures for patients who require operative treatment. Our clinical team, led by experienced surgeons Martin and Niven, is highly trained in routine and soft tissue surgery, ensuring your pet receives expert care at every stage.

Common procedures we carry out include:

  • Lump and skin mass removals (such as lipomas, cysts, and mast cell tumours)

  • Biopsy procedures (including punch and incisional biopsies)

  • Abscess treatment, including lancing and debridement

  • Wound exploration and surgical repair of traumatic injuries

  • Pyometra surgery (ovariohysterectomy for infected uterus)

  • Foreign body removal (including gastrotomy or enterotomy)

  • Umbilical hernia repair

  • Bladder surgery for the removal of stones

  • BOAS surgery for bracycephalic breeds

Safe, closely monitored surgical care

All patients undergoing surgery requiring sedation or general anaesthetic are closely monitored throughout by our experienced team of registered veterinary nurses (RVNs), alongside our veterinary surgeons.

Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are our top priorities at every stage—from pre-operative assessment through to recovery. They are continuously monitored to ensure the highest standard of clinical care.

Specialist surgical support when needed

For more complex or specialist soft tissue procedures, we work in partnership with Small Animal Surgeries (SAS).

This allows us to provide advanced referral-level surgery without the need for your pet to travel to an unfamiliar referral hospital. Instead, the specialist surgical team comes directly to Vet in the City, meaning your pet can remain in a familiar environment while still receiving expert-level surgical care.

When to seek advice

If your pet is unwell, has developed a new lump or bump, or you simply want reassurance about a change you’ve noticed, we recommend booking an appointment with us.

Our vets will carry out a thorough clinical examination and advise on the most appropriate next steps. Where surgery is required, we will guide you through the process clearly and support you at every stage of your pet’s treatment and recovery.
