Regular health checks are essential to keep your pet healthy and happy. At Vet in the City, we recommend a routine health check twice a year for healthy pets, helping to catch potential issues early and maintain overall wellness.

If your pet follows the recommended schedule, they will naturally visit us once a year for a full vet check and annual vaccinations, and then six months later for a routine check with one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs). This approach ensures ongoing preventative care and peace of mind.

During a routine health check, our vets and RVNs will:

​

• Assess vital signs, including heart rate and rhythm, respiration, and temperature (if needed)

• Carry out a full physical examination to include an assessment of gait and movement, hydration status, peripheral lymph nodes, eyes and ear canals

• Weigh your pet and monitor body condition

• Examine teeth and oral health

• Provide parasite control recommendations

• Offer guidance on nutrition and weight management

• Answer any questions you may have about your pet’s health

 

Routine health checks are not just about identifying problems—they’re about building a long-term wellness plan tailored to your pet. Our pets aren’t able to talk to us (as much as we wish they could!), so it’s our responsibility as their carers to ensure they are monitored and cared for as well as possible.
