Orthopaedic Surgery

Orthopaedic conditions can significantly impact your pet’s comfort and mobility. While we do not perform orthopaedic surgery in-house, we work closely with trusted specialists to ensure your pet receives expert diagnosis, treatment, and surgical care when needed.

At Vet in the City, our veterinary surgeons do not currently perform orthopaedic surgery in-house. However, we have established a close partnership with Small Animal Surgeries (SAS), allowing us to provide seamless access to specialist orthopaedic care when your pet needs it.

This means your pet can benefit from advanced surgical expertise without the stress of travelling to an unfamiliar referral hospital.

The process

If you are concerned that your pet may have an orthopaedic issue—such as intermittent lameness, an abnormal gait, stiffness, or signs of discomfort—please book an appointment with one of our vets.

Our team will carry out a thorough clinical examination and, where appropriate, recommend diagnostic imaging such as x-rays to help confirm a diagnosis. These images are also shared with SAS for a specialist second opinion, ensuring the most accurate assessment possible.

Once a diagnosis has been confirmed, we will discuss a tailored treatment plan with you. This may include surgical intervention, but could also involve conservative management such as rest, physiotherapy, or other medical treatments depending on your pet’s needs.

Specialist surgical care, close to home

If surgery is required, we will coordinate directly with SAS to arrange the procedure at a convenient time for all parties.

The benefit of this partnership is that your pet can undergo specialist orthopaedic surgery at Vet in the City, in a familiar environment with our trusted team supporting their care throughout. This helps reduce stress for both pets and owners while ensuring access to high-level surgical expertise.
